My Friend, Tammy

I have known Tammy since our Freshman year at Stratford High School. We were very active in Young Life together and shared many, many fun and silly times together in high school. At Baylor, we roomed across the hall from each other our first year.

Tammy is a friend who knows everyone and loves everyone! She keeps tabs on everyone from elementary school on up. If you ever want to know how a certain someone is doing...just ask Tammy! She even found my old high school boyfriend who has been MIA for 15 years! She actually flagged him down while driving and MADE him pull into a parking lot to catch up with her!

The past few months have been incredibly trying for Tammy. She discovered that she has a brain tumor just after Christmas and has been in treatment ever since. Tammy and her "team" have named this tumor "Earl" after the Dixie Chick song, Goodbye Earl.

Tammy has been such an inspiration throughout this ordeal. She is upbeat and positive all the time! Her Caringbridge site has had thousands of hits and she has a huge support group. Through everything, Tammy has kept her sweet smile and her spirit just shines!!!!!!

Tammy has finished radiation and in a few weeks begins Chemotherapy. So what does she do while she waits???? Throws a party!

On Saturday Marc, Chloe and I went to Mama's Cafe to celebrate Tammy's tumor shrinking and to encourage her on her next phase of the fight. It was so much fun! I saw so many old friends from High School and Tammy looked FANTASTIC! I have to admit, besides Tammy, Chloe was the bell-of-the-ball. You can see for yourself, everyone checking her out!

Thank you Tammy for letting us celebrate with you! We pray for you daily and we know that Earl will be long gone very soon!
