Yanchep National Park

Recently Das Hyndmans took a mini road trip up the road about 50 minutes to a nearby park. We had a great day in Yanchep National Park.  National Parks are abundant in Australia. Not few and far between like in the US. They are almost more like US State Parks.
We began our day at the Visitors Centre gathering information and then went on a guided cave walk in Crystal Cave.  It was an hour long and Chloe did great. She was very interested and obsessed with the fact that small animals fall through the holes at the top of the caves during the night and the park keepers have to "take them back to their mommies."

We couldn't touch any of the stalagmites or stalactites but Chloe could touch and feel the examples of 'live' and "dead" crystals.

The family that spelunks together stays together!

A beautiful day in a beautiful park in a beautiful country!  The lake was quite dry because of the lack of rainfall but we saw ducks, swans, turtles and spiders!

Hanging out in a taco, boat, train....we all had our own opinion of what this was.  My guess was the taco...I think I have Tex Mex on the brain.

After a yummy lunch and sweet treat from the park chocolate shop (what a great idea!) we headed to see the koalas.  Koalas are not native to Western Australia so they had transported eucalyptus trees to the park so the animals could fed.

We wanted to stay for the Indigenous Experience in the afternoon but Chloe was shutting down.  It's a good excuse to come back again soon!
